Vertical Datum: Unspecified, Units Meters, Vertical resolution is 10 meters.
Horizontal Accuracy:
All horizontal control to support hydrography must meet or exceed third-order, class I standards as described in the Federal Geodetic Control Committee booklets, Standards & Specifications for Geodetic Control Networks (FGCC 1984). These standards list the minimum relative accuracy permitted for each order of accuracy.
Vertical Accuracy:
National Ocean Service standards for the accuracy of measured depths in hydrographic surveys are derived from standards specified by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in the International Hydrographic Bureau (1987) Special Publication No44, "IHO Standards for Hydrographic Surveys". Essentially, with a probablility of 90%, the total error in a measured depth should not exceed 0.3 m from 0 to 30 meters, and 1% of depths greater than 30 m.
