Habitat:

Mostly nocturnal. Do not travel in packs, but sometimes with young. Prefers mountainous or forested areas. Sometimes seen during the day in secluded areas. Sometimes can be seen in trees.

Identification:

Large cat, tawny to grayish in color. Is very fast and noteble for its long tail. Has white belly or front chest.  Golden-Green eyes, curved topped ears.

Diet:

Mostly deer, but with an occasional rodent, hare, or something else that is uneaten. Will (but rarely) kill a domestic animal. Will not eat tainted meat.

 

Lifespan:

Up to eighteen years.

Area:

Most of Western United States, Canada, and Mexico. Is not commonly seen in the Eastern US, except for in areas of Florida.
