2003 winter GIS Conference!

College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences

Olympic Natural Resources Center

February 27th and 28th
Forks, WA USA

ONRC Facility

Our first regional GIS Conference was in 1999, when we had a "grand opening" of the "ONRC Clearinghouse for the Olympic Peninsula". We had a full house. Folks from federal, state, tribal, local government, and other organizations from all around the region attended.

For our second GIS conference, we need to revisit the Clearinghouse (and how!), and we wanted to investigate other current GIS topics in the region and the state.

Major goals of this 2003 conference are to:

(1) convene a panel of experts from both the public and private sectors to expose critical management needs in the region (primarily natural resources), reveal existing GIS product and service delivery, and identify and examine any gaps, and

(2) revisit the Clearinghouse and find out what's new NSDI Framework efforts at the State level, and

(3) showcase Olympic Peninsula and western Washington GIS projects, with an emphasis on remote sensing!
