OLYMPIC NATURAL RESOURCES CENTER
 Winter Science Conference 1999

"Putting Olympic Peninsula on the Map"

Putting Olympic Peninsula On The Map

February 4 and 5, 1999
at
the Olympic Natural Resources Center in Forks, WA

Conference Purpose

The purpose of this Conference is to bring Olympic Peninsula GIS professionals and other interested natural resource professionals together under the umbrellas of

GIS Infrastructure and Education and Olympic Peninsula GIS Applications to

identify challenges and generate potential solutions
upon which ONRC can target strategies in growing GIS educational opportunities and facilitating integrated GIS application in natural resources management, research and education on the Olympic Peninsula.

The two-day Conference is designed to allow time for participants to hear speakers which may stimulate discussion for in-conference participant workgroups  to fulfill the goal above.

Speakers will present relevant examples of working with GIS on Olympic Peninsula events and phenomena, and workgroups will rally around specific issues under each umbrella and generate targeted solutions upon which ONRC can base its GIS services.

Who should attend this Conference?

All "ONRC Clearinghouse" Contributing Partners should attend this Conference as a "housewarming" to meet and work with your Clearinghouse neighbors. The ONRC Clearinghouse continues to contact and welcome agencies and organizations using GIS on the Olympic Peninsula such that the Clearinghouse is becoming a comprehensive regional resource --- and with the Clearinghouse's solid foundation established, ONRC GIS can now begin "entertaining guests," by offering services to the Olympic Peninsula GIS community. But we need to know what your needs are and how we can best serve them. Therefore anyone applying GIS in natural resources management, research, and education on and for the Olympic Peninsula should attend.
