Archiver
for Output of Multiple Quad Extraction and Import Tool
This tool
is designed to archive the output of the Multiple
Quad Extraction and Import Tool.
The
Archiver Tool is supplied as
24kdlgp2.tar.gz.
Please see download and extract instructions on the left of this page.
NT
Arc/INFO users:
Winzip(R)
cannot be run as a batch process (as far as I know), therefore, tar.exe,
gunzip.exe,
and gzip.exe
need to be inserted into $path for the AMLs to execute properly.
Please use these executables, as others may have problems with long filename
handling, in which case, this tool will NOT work and MAY mangle your data!!
Unix
Arc/INFO users:
Make
sure to unalias any interactive options for rm, mv, cp, tar, gzip, and
gunzip for the AMLs to execute properly. The Unix shell will NOT
recognize 'unalias rm' etc. when passed by Arc/INFO from the command line!!
What
this tool does:
This
tool exports each coverage created by the Multiple Quad Extraction and
Import Tool to an ascii Arc/INFO (*.e00) export file which
is then tarred and gzipped (*.tar.gz). The individual coverages are
archived so that when unzipped, the original directory structure is reconstructed.
The
top directory is the quad name, underneath that are the workspaces corresponding
to the SDTS 'map date' of each coverage. If multiple coverages have
the same 'map date', they are automatically unzipped into the correct dated
workspace under the correct quad name directory (see Multiple
Quad Extraction and Import Tool).
The
archived coverages are placed in a directory named 24kdlg_archive
How
to use it:
At
the Arc: prompt, type:
&r
process2
You
will be asked for the location of your data. Enter the location,
and it will then begin processing the coverages within your specified directory.
Important
Data Details:
The
output archives will be named according to this convention:
<quad
name>_<date>_<theme>.tar.gz
This
naming convention insures that no historical data is lost.
