Description:
Abstract:
This data set contains data for 99 16 m diameter circular ground plots sampled in the Hoh and Queets River valley bottom forests on Olympic National Park and Washington Department of Natural Resources lands. These plots were sampled from July through September, 1997. The data included measurements for trees above 4 in. DBH for the following stand structure parameters: Species, DBH, height, basal area, density, and biomass and the aggregate, structural complexity index.
Purpose:
The purpose of these plots was to provide forest structure information for a remote sensing Master's thesis study. Plot structure data was correlated to Landsat Thematic Mapper and SIR-C/X-SAR (radar) imagery of Hoh and Queets River valley bottom forests.
Supplemental_Information:
Plot location and parameter data is stored in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet format. Plot locations are also contained in an Arc/Info point coverage, which includes plot identification numbers as a primary key. The point coverage is in the Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM) projection, Zone 10, Nad 27 spheroid, and meters as units.
