Use of Olympic Natural Resources Center facilities for research, education and community service is encouraged. Facility use is discouraged if comparable, suitable facilities are available commercially within the community. 

All ONRC facility use will be consistent with University of Washington Policy and, when appropriate, authorization will be documented by use of the University of Washington Request for Use of University Facilities. Some guideline criteria are listed here:  

• Community or private functions, such as receptions, are permitted when an employee of ONRC is present and assumes responsibility for safety and security.

• Research and educational activities have priority over other uses.

• Use is prohibited when the primary purpose is for “motel” services not associated with authorized University activities.

• Use is prohibited when the primary purpose is selling of products or services to the public.

• With the exceptions of normal ONRC administrative functions, all facility use is subject to cost recovery through fees established by ONRC.  

Olympic Natural Resources Center reserves the right to refuse use of the facilities when inconsistent with this policy or when use is deemed inappropriate for University of Washington facilities. 

Questions regarding the application of this policy to specific requests or the consideration of exceptions to this policy are the purview of the Director, or in his absence, the Administrator.

Facilities and Use

Welcome to the ONRC. Guests using ONRC facilities must agree to abide by the following rules:

Groups: Each group using ONRC facilities shall designate a person who will be responsible for the group.

After hours: If the meeting or overnight stay is to be held outside normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8-5) the responsible person will make arrangements with the staff at ONRC to arrange for an access key.

Lost keys: A $50.00 charge will be assessed for lost keys.

SMOKING is NOT ALLOWED inside any ONRC building including apartments and dormitories.

Alcoholic Beverages are not allowed unless a banquet permit has been obtained prior to the meeting or event.

Pets are not allowed inside any building at ONRC including apartments and dormitories.

Laundry and Dorm showers and restrooms are available to lodgers.

Photocopies can be made at the Main Administration Office for 15 cents per copy.

Fax Service is available; the cost is $3.50/3 pages for both sending and receiving.  Please contact the ONRC front office to arrange for fax service.

Parking is available in the apartment and dormitory parking lots. Please do not park in front of the Propane Tanks.

Kitchen Use The communal kitchen is available for dormitory guests. The social hall is also routinely scheduled for other meetings, which will limit uses at times. We will try to schedule meetings where they will not interfere with dorm guests use of the communal kitchen. We ask that you clean up after your use of the kitchen.

PLEASE NOTE: Guests/organizations agree to pay the cost to repair damage to ONRC facilities caused by negligence, misuse or vandalism by guest or employees of guest. Please inquire prior to affixing maps and posters to the walls. Damage shall include excessive soiling of apartment and dormitory carpets, and damage to walls, and furniture.
