Legislative Origins

Acting on a recommendation made by the Commission on Old Growth Alternatives for Washington's Forest Trust Lands, the Washington State legislature created the Olympic Natural Resources Center as part of the University of Washington. The mission of the Center is to conduct research and education on natural resource management practices which integrate ecological and economic values. A broadly representative policy advisory board appointed by the governor advises the Deans of the College of Forest Resources and the College of Ocean and Fishery Sciences on policies for the Center.
